ABSTRACT

Food photography has changed over the years, hand in hand with changes and trends in the art of cuisine. Today, chefs are real stars and their dishes are works of art that mix colors, shapes and combinations. But how can a medium like photography give back the essence of a dish? Is it possible to associate colours and flavours with their image? How can we get them into the observer's mind?

There are several schools of thought in this regard: there are those who work with lights; those who set the dish next to its most prominent ingredients or in a particular environment; those who highlight its preparation method. We don't believe there is a unique recipe, just as we are convinced that photography must leave the right dose of mystery hidden in a dish, only to be discovered through its tasting.

Our approach

We believe in light and warmth. We like to photograph dishes in their natural essence, in their cleanliness, without pushing the colors, but respecting them, letting them express themselves in their own environment, trying to bring out the chef's care and passion. Each character has a different story and in our photos we try to sew this story on him or her. Warmth is the result of this process.

Le Gavroche

We truly believe that our approach commits to Le Gavroche's philosophy. French-style cuisine with a contemporary touch identifies the restaurant as a traditional, family-run business of the highest quality. Founded by Albert Roux, since 1992 it has been led by Michel Roux Jr, who has continued and innovated its cuisine, which in turn has led him to be one of the most important chefs in England and the World. We believe that the somewhat uncombed classicism of this Gavroche of the kitchen requires a respectful photography of the location, its dishes and people: natural, without fireworks or false effects. A photograph that knows how to evoke familiarity, care, and the joy of culinary art.

Our proposals

1. A clean shooting of the menu, the dishes that characterize it, dividing them into categories to be agreed: eg. seasonal, evergreen, the specials. A series of portraits of the protagonists of the restaurant.

2. A photo feature in which the dishes, the protagonists, the process are photographed in their own settings: from shopping, to preparation, to service. Gestures, care, smiles, hugs, concentration, attention to detail, empathy: these are all elements that come out of spontaneous, natural, on-site photography.

OUR OFFER

The project will develop in three days reconciling with the times of the service.

Here our idea of workflow: Step 1 - Planning and inspections. Step 2 - Process (shopping, preparations, service). Step 3 Dishes. Step 4 Portraits and interior.  

Price: Euro 5000 (Flights and overnights for two people included) 

ABOUT US

We are a freelance team that deals with consulting and communication. Our agency was born in 2015 from the idea of five young people who have the desire to build a shared work for creatives of every art, profession and philosophy. 

For the develop of this project will be involved Aldo Dith (photographer) and Cataldo Bevilacqua (project manager).
